Olaplex – Hair saviour or scam? | #ad

We’re all guilty of a hair crime or two, for me its repeat use of heated tools without using heat protection. The latest trend in compensating for these crimes is Olaplex, so I went along to HOB Salon in Leeds for a complimentary Olaplex blowdry.

Well, if its good enough for Kim Kardashian…
Remember when Kim Kardashian went from having black hair to platinum blonde in a day? Word has it, that her hairdresser accredits this to Olaplex. The idea is that Olaplex repairs the disulphide bonds in the hair which can be damaged when using heat on hair, undergoing heat treatments or even simply from your pillow.

What is the salon like?
One thing that is really important to me when going to a salon is that the staff are really friendly. As a naturally nervous person this really helps me to relax and enjoy the treatment. The salon was crazy clean and everything was really bright making it perfect for pictures hehe.

So what’ll this cost me?
Prices for an Olaplex blowdry start at £59.50 and increase with the level of experience the technician has. You also need 90 minutes to spare (if you have medium length hair that is, I guess less if you have short hair it’ll be less and if you have pretty long hair it may take even longer). http://www.hobsalons.com/_assets/media/salon/14.pdf

What will they do to my hair?
When I arrived a lovely gentleman sat me down and discussed Olaplex with me aswell as what to expect. Then he took to over to the sinks and popped treatment 1 on my hair for 5 minutes, followed by number 2 on top for 10 minutes. After that a lady came over and washed my hair (which included the most bomb head massage) before a blow dry.
My hair was feeling the pantiest of pants. Last year I put 3 at home bleach packs on my night in one night. I straighten my hair most days and barely ever with protection.

AfterMy hair feels great! It’s stronger and my hair doesn’t break as easily or fall out as much. I expected that after washing it all the effects would go away the same way it does with conditioner, but it didn’t! That said, it doesn’t look any healthier, as you would expect it to if it was actually healthier. Overall, it’s nice – but I certainly wouldn’t spend my money.
